New shampoos and conditioners from Aquage focus on the front end of hair health.

Before hair can be beautifully styled, it has to be beautiful hair. That’s the approach of an entire new brand Aquage is launching with three shampoo-and-conditioner duos that challenge the notion that oil and water don’t mix.

“Biomega is the result of new breakthrough technology, not an extension of sulfate-free,” explains Luis Alvarez, VP creative and co-founder of Aquage. Until now, the roadblock has been trying to replenish the hair with natural oils, Alvarez continues. While shampoos have included small amounts of oil, he explains, Biomega presents the first system— a cross-linked polymeric grid—that delivers botanical oils within a water-based surfactant in large enough supply to the hair shaft to functionally matter.

“Biomega will revolutionize how we cleanse and condition hair,” predicts Alvarez. “Our new surfactant suspends omega-rich oils and vital nutrients to deliver to the hair a much more potent solution than what natural oils can provide. With today’s aggressive hair color and thermal styling, hair needs protection and nutrition more than ever. That’s what makes Biomega such a brilliant solution!”

Clients will notice the difference immediately, Alvarez pledges. “These lightweight oils lubricate the hair from within, smoothing the cuticle without weighing down the hair,” he remarks. The result is high shine and superb manageability, according to Alvarez, who stresses that, like all Aquage products, Biomega is aggressively shielded from diversion to non-salon markets. Alvarez points out that the packaging assumes an edgy, artsy image. “This line is about the health of the hair,” he notes. “But it’s also positioned where fashion, beauty and art meet. In all of our tests, salon professionals have been blown away with the look, fragrance and performance.”

Something for Everyone

While all hair needs may be equal, they’re certainly not the same. Identifying three hair textures, Biomega addresses the needs of each by providing three distinct high-lathering shampoo and gentle conditioner formulas, all with color-protective properties and all sulfate- and paraben-free.

Texture: Dry, damaged hair.
Goal: Moisturize.
Formula: Omega-rich moisturizers and Keratin amino acids.
Moisture Shampoo restores moisture, repairs damage, improves elasticity, renews strength and resiliency and increases slip for effortless styling. Moisture Conditioner continues the repairing and rehydrating process, mends split ends, helps to prevent further breakage, seals the cuticle to lock in shine and leaves hair feeling vibrant and healthy.

Texture: Coarse, curly or frizzy hair.
Goal: Silken.
Formula: Nutrient-rich omega oils and mango seed extract.
Silk Shampoo silkens the hair, sealing the cuticle to eliminate frizz and improve combability. Intensive Conditioner reinforces the silkening by preparing the hair for easy styling and making it resistant to the effects of humidity.

Texture: Fine, limp hair.
Goal: Volumize.
Formula: Lightweight, omega-rich nutrients and gugo bark extract.
Volume Shampoo thickens the hair from the inside to volumize without roughing up the cuticle layers. Moisture Mist Conditioner comes in an ultra-light, leave-in spray to even out the porosity and detangle without adding weight.

Specific botanicals in the formulas include: macadamia nut oil, tiare flower extract and monoi oil for shine; noni seed oil and hibiscus extract for moisture; Tahitian palm kernel oil, Polynesian orchid extract and plankton algae extract for strength; and avoto seed oil and plant-derived antioxidants for color retention.
